Geoff Fox, a Ph. D. and instructor of physics at University of Santa Clara is the founder of Fox Racing. In 1974, he had opened Moto-X Fox in Campbell, California which was a small distribution center for European accessories and parts. Within a couple of years Moto-X Fox produced superior suspension as well as engine elements for racers. In 1977, Geoff thought it is time to show the world that his merchandise is superior to those of his competitors. To support his thinking he created Team Moto-X Fox to take part in highly-competitive AMA 125cc National Championship series. The team overtook Japanese factory teams and their riders secured fifth, sixth and seventh position while becoming the highest non-factory riders within the series. Geoff’s main purpose was served so well and the motocross world got acquainted with a new brand.
After the series many fans and enthusiasts started calling the Fox shop in Campbell to look for the outfit that Team Moto-X Fox riders wore. In 1980 and 1982 Fox rider Mark Barnett and Brad Lackey won the company’s first National Championship and World Motocross Championship respectively. In 2006, Ricky Songster another Fox rider won the AMA Supercorss Championship and the brand success stories continues….
